2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup: Uzbekistan 3-0 Kuwait – End of road for hosts as spirited performance is not enough for semi-final berth

2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup hosts Kuwait have exited the competition after succumbing to a 3-0 loss against an experienced Uzbekistan side at the Saad Al Abdulah Hall, Sabah Al Salem, Kuwait City on Tuesday evening.

Khusniddin Nishonov of Uzbekistan had the first poke at the goal in the early moments. The No. 8 saw his effort deflected for a corner kick.

Inside the 18th minute, Nishonov was at it again as he directed a shot at goal but his effort rather crashed into the bar.

Soon Kuwait would reply and it was captain Hamad Hayat who attempted to go past his marker around the penalty zone but his effort was blocked.

Uzbekistan had built a watertight defensive network making it difficult for the host to penetrate as they continuously blocked off shots from the Kuwaiti attacking lines.

Anaskhon Rakhmatov scored the opening goal for Uzbekistan inside the 6th minute when he curled the ball past the hosts’ keeper.

No. 4 Ikhtiyor Ropiev darted a powerful effort that was blocked off target. FP Davron Choriev should have doubled the lead for the White Wolves when he had a great scoring opportunity but he was denied by the post as his effort came off the upright.

Kuwait keeper Mohammad Alhuzaim had to be at his best to stop a great effort from Nishonov with 24 seconds left to end the first period.

Just 25 seconds after the interval, Davron Choriev doubled the lead for Uzbekistan as he fired a shot past the hosts keep.

Khusniddin Nishonov firmly put the game beyond Kuwait after scoring the third goal with 6 minutes left on the clock.
