2022 FIFA World Cup: Ghana becomes first African side to score goals after 3-2 loss to Portugal

Ghana has become the first African side to score goals at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars netted twice in a 3-2 loss to Portugal.

Andre Ayew levelled Cristiano Ronaldo’s 65th-minute penalty goal before substitute Osman Bukari further reduced the deficit after Rafael Leao had made it 3-1 for Portugal.

Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, and Cameroon had all failed to score in their opening games.

Prior to this game, African representatives had tried 44 shots with 12 being on target.
