Some Ghanaians pray for Black Stars’ defeat after passage of E-levy
Some Ghanaians are praying for the defeat of the Black Stars in their match against Nigeria this evening.
According to users of social media, this is because of the passage of the controversial Electronic Transaction levy (E-levy) Bill. The bill was passed by a Majority-sided Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.
They say government’s decision to pass a Bill that many citizens have raised concerns about, on a day the Black Stars are going against Nigeria for the World Cup qualifier playoff, is insensitive.
But some users say such a position is unfair as President Akufo-Addo does not own the Black Stars and the senior national team is not to blame for the passage of the Bill.
The Ghana Black Stars and Super Eagles of Nigeria match takes place at 5pm at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
According to Joy Sports, the Black Stars have made their way to the stadium.
Last week Friday, Ghana and Nigeria faced off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The outcome was 0-0 as none of the teams was able to score a goal at the end of 90 minutes.
