Alhaji Akanbi immunes Hon. Odotei and himself from any fault in Hearts of Oak problems, blames players [Pure FM]

Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akanbi has shifted the blame on players of the club insisting the club’s hierarchy did everything possible to the club to flourish in a season turned disastrous for the capital club.

The Rainbow club beat the drop on the final matchday of the 2022/23 season and escaped relegation by just 3 points, their worse finish since the 2014/15 season when the former African champions escaped relegation on superior go aggregate after finishing the season with 40 points, same as relegated Heart of Lions.

Fans of the Rainbow club have been left in disappointment with the general performance of the club in the just ended season.

Despite growing fan agitation about the standard and quality of work of board members Alhaji Akanbi and Vincent Odotei, Akanbi has extricated the two from any blame.

“Hearts of Oak’s problems are not because of me or Hon. Odotei because we did everything we had to do for the players. We never imagined we could lose 4-1 to Tamale City or the fashion under which we lost the game to Medeama in Accra,” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.

He promised fans of better performances and structures next season.

“We are doing all that we need to do to ensure that never again would such a thing happen at Hearts of Oak,” he added.
