Qatar 2022: Make sure Black Stars are well catered for – Bagbin to gov’t

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has charged the state to fully provide for the Black Stars as preparations gear up for the World Cup.

The Black Stars will kick-off their campaign with a replay of 2014s fixture with Portugal, before facing off in a 2010 replay when they face Uruguay. South Korea will be Ghana’ s final hurdle before the knockout rounds of the Mundial.

The country will be returning to football’s global festival after missing out on the 2018 edition of the event, and it is for this reason Bagbin views it as a window for the country to rewrite the chronicles of an underwhelming campaign in 2014. And to Bagbin, it is important the state explores every means to provide for the team while they finalise World Cup preparations.

“Ghana will again be represented at this year’s FIFA World Cup, this time in Qatar. This august house is expected to play a pivotal role in making sure players and technical team deliver to the expectations of Ghanaians. This is the time to right the wrongs that characterised the 2014 edition in Brazil. One which led to our early exit and brought so much shame and dishonour to Ghana football.

“We have an opportunity to reposition our country in the world of football. Preparations for this I am persuaded, started long ago and we need to sharpen our focus and ensure our national football team gives a good account of itself in Qatar. As leaders, it is our duty to inspire and motivate the players, technical team and supporters. The country should leave no stone in resourcing and financing the events despite the current state of the economy. The benefits of this venture to the country and people are immeasurable and we should toy with the contest and opportunity.”

Mr. Bagbin has also assured the national team of Parliament’s unrelenting support for the duration of the World Cup.

“I want to assure the Black Stars, this parliament is solidly behind them, and they should confidently go for the gold and cup.”
