Black Stars defender Nicholas Opoku excels as Amiens pocket Sochaux in France

Black Stars defender Nicholas Opoku was among the top performers in France’s Ligue 2 during the weekend as he played an influential role for Amiens in their 1-0 victory over Sochaux.

The 25-year-old anchored the backline for Unicorns as they recorded their 12th victory of the season.

Opoku, a former Udinese defender, was among the top performers of the evening as he limited the chances of the Sochaux attack through his commanding play and impressive organisation and leadership at the back.

The victory moved Amiens further away from the relegation zone in the Ligue 2 as the former elite league campaigners are pushing for an appreciable spot before the end of the season.

Opoku, who warmed the Ghana bench during the 2024 AFCON qualifying stalemate against Angola in Luanda, has featured in 30 league games for Amiens this season.
