Black Stars get new captain for Nicaragua clash as Ayew brothers are dropped

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori will lead the Black Stars against Nicaragua on Tuesday evening.

The 28-year-old has displaced Jojo Wollacott to start in between the sticks with Otto Addo naming 9 different starters from his XI against Brazil.

Due the sweeping changes in the starting XI, Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew are both no going to be on the field when the game starts.

Andre Ayew is the captain of the team and is deputised by crocked Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey. Richard Ofori is the second vice captain.

Ofori himself had not had the chance to command the No.1 position as Charlton Athletic keeper Wollacott has been Otto Addo’s favourite despite the obvious differences at club competitive levels.

Mostly when Andre Ayew is leaving the field, he hands the armband to his younger brother Jordan who is one of the most capped players in the team.

Due to the absence of the two players at the blast of the referee’s whistle, Ofori will lead the team as the captain.
