CIHRM Ghana holds 2021 Annual General Meeting
The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM) has held its 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) with a call to members to come on board as Institutional citizens and not spectators.
The call was made by the President of the Institute, Dr. Edward Kwapong when he delivered his Presidential Report for the year 2020 on Friday, 18th June, 2021 at their newly built HR Centre at Tseaddo, East La.
The virtual AGM saw the attendance of 25 in-person, made up of Governing Council Members and Secretariat staff, with over 200 members joining online to take part in the proceedings of the AGM.
On Income and Expenditure, total income decreased from GH¢2.026 million in 2019 to GH¢1.673 million in 2020, a net decrease of GH¢352,972.35, representing 17.42%.
Total Expenditure for the same period also decreased by GH¢145,176.81, representing 8.4% to GH¢ 1.585 million in 2020 as against the 2019 amount of GH¢1.730 million
The institute thus recorded a net profit of GH¢ 88,527 in 2020 as against GH¢296,323.40 in 2019, a decrease of GH¢207,795.85. This represents a 70% decrease.
On membership drive, the institute increased its Associate Membership from 793 to 983, while Full Membership increased from 1,700 to 1,845, showing an increase of 24% and 8.5% respectively.
The number of Chartered HR Practitioners also stands at 115 and Fellows, 40. The Affiliate membership category stands at 80 while Corporate Membership also stands at 15.
Annual Subscription experienced an improvement as paid-up members exceeded the target of 700. For the period commencing January, 2020 to December 31, 2020, 851 members paid their subscriptions, constituting 121% of the target, thus exceeding the target by 21%.
In his welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute, Dr. Ebenezer Agbettor explained that the 2021 AGM was a “Special” Annual General Meeting because for the first time the AGM was being held in June, as required by the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act 2020 (ACT 1020), and also the COVID-19 pandemic has compelled the institute to organize the AGM both virtually and in-person.
In a sober mood, the CEO of the Institute announced the demise of John Mbroh, a former General Secretary of the Institute, who passed away in December 2020. Mr. Mbroh was the Chairman of the Fellowship Committee of the Institute until his death. A minute’s silence was observed in his honour.
Election was held to replace the outgoing Governing Council Members, whose tenure ended.
After online voting by all members, the Electoral Commission, represented by Madam Linda Abban, Municipal Electoral officer-Korle Klottey announced that Dr. Edward Kwapong had been re-elected as the President of the institute, with the following members elected to serve as the 11-member Governing Council.

11. A representative from National Council of Tertiary Education
