Division One League side Na God FC have lavished praises on former Ghana FA Vice President George Afriyie for his exceptional professionalism in Ghanaian football.
Afriyie, who is the bankroller of Susubiribi Sporting Club, was present at the Rovers Park in Akyem Old Tafo as the Pride of Akyem locked horns of Na God in a matchday 27 game which ended 0-0.
The former CAF AFCON Marketing Committee member played a leading role to ensure that the game ended in a high professional and peaceful manner.
At the blast of the final whistle the former Black Stars Management Committee chairman congratulated the referees for their efforts to ensure that the game ended in a free and fair manner.
After ensuring that the ended in a highly friendly, free and fair atmosphere, the newly promoted side offered their words of praises for the former GFA capo.
Below is the statement issued by the management of the club.
George Afriyie is former GFA Vice President and the owner of Susubiribi S/ C a division one team based in Akim Tafo.
Na God Fc went to Koforidua Old Tafo to play as a guest to Susubiribi S/C in the ongoing Access Bank Division One League WK 27 at the Rovers park. Before Na God Fc players, officials and supporters got there , all necessary arrangements have been done for us not to get any problem at the gate.
Susubiribi managements especially Martin Boateng Yaw ( Popo) and the club owner ( George Afriyie) acted professionally in yesterday game. Among all the away matches we have traveled to, this is the best reception so far in the league. Our tickets were ready when we got to venue.
Susubiribi S/C never took advantage of our fan base to increase the gate fee as some clubs have been doing when they play with Na God FC. They charged 5GHS at the gate as they have been doing always.
Before the game was about to start, George Afriyie came straight to Edward Mawutor owner of Na God Fc and hugged him then both walked to the VIP and sat close to each other.
This act alone tells me that George Afriyie has Ghana Football at Heart and thinks about how to develop the game and not three points at all cause.
In fact before the game, during the game and after the game everything was smooth.
We thank Susubiribi for giving us such a wonderful reception. If all teams can emulate what Susubiribi have done like there will be no any violence at any league center.I ( Odiagro Kofi Asante) have spoken several times on phone with George Afriyie but I haven’t gotten the chance to speak with him one on one situation. I see George Afriyie as someone who is a unifier.
Congrats Susubiribi managements.
