Don Bortey warns Hearts of Oak [Pure FM]

Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Don Bortey has cautioned the ‘Continental Club Masters’ to desist from mocking the fall of bitter rivals Asante Kotoko in the CAF Champions League.

Instead, the former winger wants his former club to learn from last Sunday’s experience at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when Burkina Faso side RC Kadiogo eliminated Ghana Premier League champions Kotoko in penalty shootouts at the preliminary stages of the Champions League.

Kotoko were considered favourable to progress to the next stage of the competition following a 1-0 first-leg win in Benin.

However, the 4-time Burkina Faso top-flight title winners shocked the Porcupine Warriors after beating 3-1 on penalties after the regulation time ended 1-0 in their favour.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak are preparing for their CAF Confederation Cup second-round clash with the winner of the AS Douanes and Réal Bamako.

And, Bortey who played over 80 games for the Rainbow Club has cautioned them about going into Africa for the second consecutive time.

“Hearts should learn from Kotoko’s loss. This is not the time to laugh at Kotoko. Rather they should learn from what has happened to them,” he said during an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM.
