Ex-Ghana Premier League star scores decisive penalty to power Ismaily to Egyptian Cup semis

Former Ghana Premier League Goal King Award winner Yaw Annor climbed off the bench to score the winning penalty for El Ismaily as they defeated Ghazl El Mahallah on penalty shootouts to reach the semi-finals of the Egyptian Cup on Monday.

Annor, 25, was introduced inside the 80th minute as a replacement for Mohamed El Shami and he made the difference with the last kick of the game.

26-year-old Firas Chaouat had opened the scoring for Ismaily who are also known as the Brazilians when he raced them into the lead on the 3rd minute.

However, Himid Mkami levelled for El Mahallah 2 minutes from the end of the first-half.

None of the sides could grab the winner within the second stanza and the game headed for penalty shootouts.

The Ho-born, who has been strongly linked with a nationality switch to Togo, was the man to decide the game and he scored the last penalty to book a ticket for Ismaily to the semi-finals.

Annor, who has also had a spell with the Spanish side Fuenlabrada, has so far scored 2 goals in 17 games for the Egyptian side in the Premier League.
