EXCLUSIVE: Top former Hearts official lacing his boots for GFA Presidential race

A former Hearts of Oak General Manager is expected to announce his candidature for the Ghana Football Association’s Presidential race when the football governing body formally opens nominations, Ghana Sports Online has learnt.

The renowned administrator, who has been described by many admirers as a brilliant son of the oak tree, also spent several years working as the boss of the Ghana Premier League Board.

Should he announce his candidature, he will become the second aspirant to contest incumbent Kurt Okraku after Berekum Chelsea owner Bernard Amofa Jantuah expressed interest in the seat.

During his spell at Hearts of Oak, the Rainbow club won 12 league titles, five FA Cups, the continental hat-trick of trophies: Champions League, Confederation Cup, and CAF Super Cup.

The incumbent President of the Ghanaian football governing body, Kurt Okraku, together with the current board of the association, will see their mandate officially come to an end on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

This means fresh elections must be conducted to elect the new leadership of the football association. And, Ghana Sports Online sources can confirm that the General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo, will announce the roadmap for the elections which will include the the venue.

The electoral college of the Ghana FA, which includes 123 members, decides the fate of the leadership of football in the country that since last won the AFCON title in 1982.
