‘False’- GFA dismiss reports Ministry of Finance gave them $800k for Brazil and Nicaragua friendlies

President of the Ghana football Association, Kurt Okraku, has denied reports on social media that the association was paid around $800,000 by the Ministry of Finance ahead of friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua last month.

On Tuesday, amidst calls by some 80 Majority Members of Parliament for the President to remove under-fire Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, sports journalist, Collins Atta Poku, tweeted that three MPs had told him the Finance Minister, among other alleged infractions, paid nearly $800,000 to the GFA for the two the two games.

In a strongly worded statement, the GFA described the news as a “calculated lie to pitch the public against the Ghana football Association.”
