Mariano Barreto asked Dr Kwame Kyei to sack Nana Yaw Amponsah as Kotoko CEO – Reports

Portuguese tactician Mariano Barreto reportedly told Asante Kotoko board chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei and the Manhyia Chief of Staff to sack Nana Yaw Amponsah as the Chief Executive Officer of the Porcupine Warriors.

Last week Mariano Barreto agreed to terminate his contract with Kotoko, according to reports filed by Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

Kotoko have since announced Dr. Prosper Narteh as the new head coach to replace the Portuguese.

Ghana Sports Online deep-seated sources within the Kotoko fraternity have revealed that Barreto in separate meetings with Kotoko board chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei and the Manhyia Chief of Staff recommended the sacking of Nana Yaw Amponsah from his role as the CEO of Kotoko.

The former Ghana U23 and AEL Limassol coach set two conditions that must be fulfilled before he returns as head coach of Kotoko after returning to his native Portugal. Also READ: Mariano Barreto confirms his exit from Kotoko [Nhyira FM]

Barreto was in charge of Kotoko for 5 months.
