The president of the Ghana Best Cocoa Farmers Association, Charles Gyamfi has heaped praises on the Chief Executive of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Hon Joseph Boahen Aidoo for spearheading the implementation of sustainable agronomic programmes and practices that have contributed to a viable cocoa sector in Ghana.

The outpour of acknowledgment to the Chief Executive was made during a recent courtesy call by members of the Ghana Best Cocoa Farmers Association at the COCOBOD Head office, Cocoa House in Accra. The gallant team of best farmers led by Mr Charles Gyamfi, presented a magnificent citation to Hon Boahen Aidoo lauding him and COCOBOD management for the immeasurable impact made in the cocoa sector.

Leading the delegation of farmers, Mr Gyamfi who was the 2016 National Best Cocoa Farmer said it was necessary to acknowledge the efforts of COCOBOD headed by Hon Aidoo, whose tenure saw the record breaking cocoa production level of 1.4 million metric tonnes in the 2021 crop year recorded in Ghana’s cocoa archives.

This achievement is said to have greatly impacted on the livelihood of cocoa farmers in Ghana, coupled with the introduction of the Living Income Differential (LID).

‘Your commitment to improve the welfare of farmers and innovativeness in introducing sustainable Productivity Enhancement Programmes especially Prunning and Hand Pollination deserves massive commendation. Earlier, my colleagues and I paid a courtesy call on H.E President Nana Akufo-Addo who was pleased with the feedback from a crop of citizens like us who contribute to feeding and sustaining the economy,’ he said.

He added that his team took advantage of the courtesy call on the President to highlight the need for Government to complement the good works of the Board which has already invested in several Social Responsibility projects in providing road infrastructure, schools, health and general welfare of cocoa farmers and Ghanaians at large. As such, his team deemed it fit to officially convey the Presidential compliments and show their appreciation to Hon Aidoo and COCOBOD management for their good work.

Upon receiving the citation, Hon Aidoo was appreciative of the magnitude of acknowledgement received from the farmers. ‘ I am deeply moved by your show of appreciation and I am honored by your expression in acknowledging the hard work my colleagues and I put in, all these efforts are in the best interest of your welfare.

This recognition is a positive feedback and it gives me more motivation to ensure that the resources of the Board are effectively used for our mutual benefits’, Hon Aidoo expressed.

Hon Aidoo urged the farmers to continue in their roles as ambassadors in their respective communities and encourage more youths to venture into cocoa farming to help guarantee the sustainability of the cocoa sector.
