Ghana captain Andre Ayew moves to Qatar, click for more details

Qatari giants Al Sadd have announced the capture of Ghana captain Andre Ayew.

The Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium side, handled by Barcelona legend Xavi, announced an agreement has been reached with the former Swansea City captain.

The club said Andre is expected to arrive in Doha on Thursday morning to commence the process of medicals and eventually sign a permanent deal with the club.

Ayew became a free agent after seeing out his contract with Swansea City at the end of the 2020/21 season.

He was strongly linked with a move to English Premier League side Crystal Palace but the former West Ham United player has opted to move to the Middle East.

He becomes the third Ghanaian in recent weeks to move to the Middle East after Afriyie Acquah and Christian Atsu joined Saudi Arabian clubs.

Al Sadd are 15 times winners of the Qatari Star League and have won the AFC Champions League 2 times with the most recent success coming in 2011.
