Ghana vs Uruguay: These are the FIVE Uruguayan players who were in La Celeste squad when Luis Suarez prevented Ghana from reaching the semi-finals in 2010

Ghana goes into Friday afternoon’s clash against Uruguay with Andre Ayew as the only player who was in the squad when the old foes clashed at the 2010 edition in South Africa.

Even then, the 32-year-old was suspended from the game due to yellow card accumulation as he watched the game from the stands.

However, Uruguay still has 5 players from the squad which was then coached by the iconic Oscar Tabarez.

Substitute Dominic Adiyiah had headed the ball for a goal-bound effort for Ghana when Luis Suarez used his hands to block the ball from scoring. Ghana would have become the first African side to reach the last 4 of the tournament in history.

Three Uruguayan players who started the game against Ghana are still available along with 2 others who were warming the bench.

Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, Edson Cavani, and Luis Suarez were all starters in that game while defenders Diego Godin and Martin Caceres were on the bench.
