GlennSamm: The walking artiste

With the constant evolution of fashion, especially on the African continent, more opportunities have opened up for people to express themselves in bold and daring designs.

One of such individuals is Samuel Glenn Semakor, popularly known as GlennSamm who has not shied away from representing and promoting his indigenous African beliefs through his costumes.

GlennSamm describes himself as a walking artiste. He is similarly a visual artiste who has worked and made cameo appearances in music videos including Fuse ODG’s New African Girl, Manuel Nonobada’s Every Day, Bisa Kdei’s Adiza featuring Adekunle Gold, Wakayna’s African Nice and EpiXode’s Wahala Dey.

His passion to promote indigenous African Culture and fashion inspired him to establish a contemporary African fashion movement called Kvngs Of The New School, an all-inclusive group of models and what he terms “Afrocentric/Afro futurist-inspired creatives”.

The group gained international recognition when it was featured in a BBC Africa documentary after catching the eyes of many patrons at Afrochella, a music celebration in Ghana with their unique appearances in 2018.

GlennSamm has worked with many fashion brands including Rek Clothing, Kasaman Fashion, Caveman Watches, Jameson Scotch Whiskey and Johnnie Walker.

He runs a blog, and is a Public Relations Specialist who has worked for entertainment personalities including Ice Prince, Ben Pol, Kamo Smash, Selasie Musiq, Eye Judah, DXD, Stonebwoy, Wakayna and Jah Phinga.

GlennSamm sums up his perspective on the fashion industry with this, “if you want to succeed in the fashion industry, you must not only be blessed with the physical qualities and features, you also need to work considerably hard to satisfy the fashion directors with your personality traits. It is not always about how stout, tall or attractive features you have, it requires more than that.”

He was billed in 2021 for the biggest Art, culture, and music festival dubbed Afrochella where he staged his Made In Africa installation.

In November 2022 he founded a street art festival dubbed Tsadidi Street Art Festival.

Tsadidi, which literally means “Roaming” in Ewe, is a Street Art Festival aimed at promoting hidden, diverse specific and unadulterated arts through paintings, rich cultural and tourism.
