2023 AFCON: Central African Republic’s Wild Beast holds Black Stars in Luanda

The Black Stars were held to a 1-1 drawn game by the Central African Republic in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers on Sunday afternoon in Luanda.

26-year-old France-based striker Karl Namnganda beat Jonathan Mensah to the pace race before unleashing a fierce half-volley to beat the hapless Lawrence Ati-Zigi who was surprisingly handed a starting role by Otto Addo.

Ajax Amsterdam midfield talisman Kudus Mohammed drew first blood for the four-time winners when he artfully slid home an Osman Bukari effort on the 17th-minute mark at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.

Ghana’s head coach Addo rang changes in his starting lineup as he introduced seven new faces from the side that hammered Madagascar 3-0 on Wednesday evening in Cape Coast.

Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Baba Iddrisu, Baba Rahman, and Fatawu Issahaku were all left on the bench.

The Black Stars started the game on a brighter note creating numerous chances around the danger zones and claiming the lion’s share of possession.
