Japan’s Jun Amano joins Jeonbuk – AFC News

Jeonju: Former Japan international midfielder Jun Amano has joined two-time AFC Champions League winners Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on loan from Yokohama F Marinos after spending last season with K1 League winners Ulsan Hyundai.

The 31-year-old returned to the J1 League outfit upon the conclusion of his season-long deal with Ulsan, where he played 28 times and scored eight goals as the Hong Myung-bo led club won the league title for the first time since 2005.
“I won the title in the K League last season, but I was still not satisfied with my own performance,” Amano told the F Marinos website.
“I decided to put myself in an environment that is one step tougher, and I thought that I could reach my ideal form by winning through even more fierce competition.
“I will continue my challenge in Korea for another year so that I can return with all my experience to F Marinos someday.”
Amano, who also scored twice in five appearances in the AFC Champions League for Ulsan, has now signed on year-long agreement with the Jeonbuk side that finished as K1 League runners-up last season to miss out on claiming a sixth straight title.
Jeonbuk, winners of the AFC Champions League in 2006 and 2016, have qualified for the next edition of the continental club championship, which will kick off later in the year.
The club also announced on Wednesday that former Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo, who led the club to the UEFA Champions League title in 2012, had been appointed a technical advisor ahead of the coming campaign.
