LOC inspires Team Ghana boxers at 2022 Commonwealth Games

The delegation from the Local Organising Committee for Accra 2023 was at the boxing arena to support Abdul Wahid Umar who fought his counterpart from Fiji in their one-eighth bout at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

The leader of the delegation, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, who also doubles as the Executive Chairman of the LOC, and other members were in the stands to throw their weight behind the enterprising ring warrior.

The fight ended in the first round in favour of the Ghanaian.

After the bout, the delegation had the opportunity to interact with the members and the technical handlers of the team, where Dr. Ofosu-Asare encouraged them to defend the nation at all times.

He advised them not to get discouraged or exhibit any fear against any opponent since Ghanaians across the globe are with them in spirit.

He said Ghanaians are yearning for medals from them and other athletes.

Dr. Ofosu-Asare hoped all those who have qualified for the various stages would win medals for the nation.

The Executive Chairman also assured them that the delegation would do well to be present at their various bouts to support them as it did today, even though it had other packed official engagements.
