Mechanics being ejected from Boadi Junction lament high towing fee charged by Assembly

Some mechanics who were forcibly ejected from Boadi Junction in Kumasi are calling for the intervention of government after city authorities demanded GHC500 for each vehicle towed from their shops.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Oforikrom, Abraham Kwame Antwi, told Luv News the Assembly had to forcibly eject them because they were occupying the entrance of a school.

Mr. Antwi stated that they had to forcibly eject them because authorities of the local school, Mancell, wanted the mechanics cleared off their frontage.

But letters written to the artisans and sighted by Luv News indicated their presence was inviting armed robbers.

The stranded artisans say they cannot afford monies demanded by authorities for their clients’ vehicles to be towed from the site.

The spot has served as a workshop for these mechanics for close to 15 years.
