Sports is a multi-billion dollar sector which can positively impact our national economy – Mustapha Ussif
Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has advocated for sports to be positioned correctly in order to make positive contributions towards the growth of the Ghanaian national economy.
The sector minister underscored the need for industry players to properly structure their activities further enhance the sector.
Though the sports economy can run independent of the national economy, the soft-spoken minister it has the capacity to bolster the national economy.
“Sports is a multi-billion sector which when correctly positioned will have a significant impact on our economy,” he stated during his address at the 47th SWAG Awards.
Meanwhile, he also highlighted on other important roles sports plays apart from its financial benefits.
“Aside the financial benefit, when well positioned, sports also enhance the social cohesion and generally help our health in bill and improve education as well as the infrastructural development of our nation.
This potential is recognised in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal which recognises sports as a crucial facilitator for attaining the SDGs,” he concluded.
