This is what happened the last time Ghana played Angola in Kumasi in an AFCON qualifier

The date was October 6, 1996, and the Black Stars hosted the Palancas Negras of Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the 1998 AFCON qualifiers.

The Black Stars, who were then coached by the late Sam Ardey, climbed from behind to secure a 2-1 victory in front of expectant fans in Kumasi.

Ghana paraded Richard Kingson in post with Sam Johnson, Yaw Preko, Felix Aboagye, Patrick Allotey, Frank Amankwah, Charles Aryee, Foster Bastios, Kim Grant, Shamo Quaye, and Christian Sabah.

Stephen Baidoo, Afo Doodo, and Ebenezer Dadzie later climbed off the bench for Ghana.

The Palancas Negras raced themselves into the lead when Dos Santos struck on the 2nd-minute mark to silence the loud-mouth home fans.

However, their lead won’t last as Felix Aboagye replied for Ghana in the 7th minute. 20 minutes later, Kim Grant sealed the results for the Black Stars with a clinical finish.

The last competitive meeting between the two sides came during the 2010 AFCON in Angola. Asamoah Gyan scored a 16th-minute grounder to seal the win for Ghana on 24th January 2010. Kwadwo Asamoah delivered a defense-splitting pass to Gyan at the 11th November Stadium in Luanda.
