TRAGEDY as ex-referee collapses and dies during Division 2 league final involving Inter Allies in Ho

Tragedy befell Ho on Sunday as retired referee Philip Lomotey collapsed and died during the Volta Regional Division Two League final at the Ho Sports Stadium on Sunday.

According to eye witness account the retired referee, who is a police officer with the Ghana Police Service and now a match commissioner, suddenly fell on the floor at the VIP stands at the stadium during the Division Two League final between Inter Allies and Home Stars.

Sadly he was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in the Volta regional capital.

The sad happening has left many to question the credibility of first aide system in Ghanaian football as medics on the scene could do little to save the situation.

Inter Allies, who were staging a swift return to the Division One League, lost the game on penalty shootout as Home Stars secured the ticket to play in the league.
