Underwhelming Black Stars just manage 1-0 win over 139th-ranked Nicaragua in Spain

Ghana’s Black Stars laboured to a 1-0 win over lowly-ranked Nicaragua in a FIFA international friendly on Tuesday evening.

Portugal-based winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku netted the solitary goal of the game for Otto Addo’s side with a volley that deflected off the head of an opposition defender.

Otto Addo saw his side struggle to disintegrate the defensive resolve of the Central American side with Inaki Williams missing a sitter from a very close range.

The first real chance of the game arrived just at the start of the game with Osman Bukari failing to realise the position of Inaki Williams who was signaling for a cut-through pass. The pass never arrived and the Athletic Club forward was left frustrated as he flew his hands in despair.

The game wore on with Fatawu Issahaku and Kudus Mohammed continued to dominate their zones though they failed to score.

In defence, Nicaragua failed to offer any threat to the defence led by Daniel Amartey and supported by Salisu Mohammed, Gideon Mensah, and Alidu Seidu.

Baba Iddrisu was silent for most parts of the game but, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh was inspirational throughout the game and was rated the best performer of the game.

The Freiburg midfielder was workaholic and fierce in the middle as he run at the opposition and protected the ball very well throughout the game.
