ASA Savings & Loans supports Egyam Children’s Home

Management of Egyam Children’s Home, an orphanage at Egyam, a community within the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region has lauded an intervention by ASA Savings and Loans Limited to support the smooth running of the home.

The orphanage has been struggling with the needed food supplies, a situation that affected its operations in providing care for the orphans.

The financial institution realizing this challenge and to put a smile on the faces of vulnerable individuals this Christmas season, stepped in to provide a variety of groceries such as bags of rice, sardines, mackerel, cooking oil, bags of onion, milk powder, cartons of milo, toiletries etc.

The Kwesimintim Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, Francis Gyabeng, who led some staff of the institution to hand over the items, said the gesture was in line with the company’s commitment to supporting the vulnerable in society.

He said the items were to provide for the daily meal for the about fifty (50) children at the orphanage.

He emphasized the need to support in the good upbringing and well-being of vulnerable children in society to help them grow into responsible adults.

Razak Ameru, the Agona Branch Manager of the company said, “We decided on this donation because as children and particularly orphans, they will need some basic needs to help them develop and grow into responsible adults, and we realised they had so we decided to support. We believe if their basic needs are met, they can grow well and have a brighter future.”

He further said, “At ASA Savings and Loans, one of our visions is to eradicate poverty and if the children are given a better future, we believe it will help eradicate poverty in the long run.”

The Head of the Egyam Children’s Home, Sister Mary Gladys Boakye expressed appreciation to ASA Savings and Loans for the donation and asked for more public support.

“I am filled with the greatest of joy because I didn’t know we would get this support at this time. All I can say is, God bless ASA Savings and Loans”, she added

The orphanage has currently about 50 children under its care. They are mostly victims of child abuse, child marriage, street children, children without adequate parental care, and people with disabilities among others.

The orphanage, which has been in existence for years has raised university graduates who have turned out well in different professions.
