Veteran Nigerian singer Sound Sultan died on Sunday, July 11, 2021, after losing a battle with cancer.
The award-winning singer passed away at the age of 44 years, according to a Family statement.
“IT IS WITH HEAVY HEARTS THAT WE ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF MULTITALENTED VETERAN SINGER, RAPPER, SONGWRITER OLANREWAJU FASASI A.K.A SOUNDSULTAN,” a part of the statement said.
Sound Sultan died after “a hard fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma,” a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related malignancies (cancers) according to the family statement.
Sound Sultan was Muslim and according to the Islamic traditions, a body should be buried as soon as possible, typically within 72 hours once the body is pronounced dead.
He was buried by his family in the United States of America, where he was receiving treatment.

Sound Sultan is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.
In a video sited by DCLeakers.com, the aggrieved wife wept uncontrollably on the coffin of the late musician during his burial. Our sincere condolence to the family at this time.
