Jay Bahd is a known trailblazer behind the Asakaa genre. With a collective sense of solidarity, he together with his Kumerican colleagues added a fresh and exciting dimension to the rap music scene after they shot into visibility in 2020. Amidst all the backlash he received as a result of the highly explicit video he posted on his snapchat few months ago, Jay Bahd gritty personality aided him tread across the chaos and soldier on.

Exactly a week ago, the Life Living Record frontliner – Jay Bahd announced the release of his debut extended play dubbed ‘Return Of Okomfo Anokye’. The announcement followed with the release of another single titled ‘Y3 Y3 DOM’ featuring O’Kenneth, Skyface SDW, Reggie, Kwaku DMC, City Boy and Kawabanga, thus numbering as the second single dished off the body of work. The drill song was well received, rising to the pinnacle of most music charts on TV, Radio and online within this short period. This built a keen anticipation to the project as music consumers and critics were eager to experience Jay Bahd’s arresting swagger and sonics in sequence.

In the ‘Return Of Okomfo Anokye’, Jay Bahd fuses Trap music and Asakaa (drill) in this narrative piece recounting his hard-knock life. The extended play houses 10 songs with features like O’Kenneth, Reggie, Kwaku DMC, Sean Lifer and others.

Also known as the demon, an alter ego which is in connection with his looks, Jay Bahd encourages his peers to stay convicted to their interests and ambitions. This is one of the salient messages the ep tends to preach, using himself as an example contrasting between his now and then.

Celebrated Nigerian rappers, Reminisce and Olamide join forces on a new Hip-hop song titled ‘Omo X 100’

The mid-tempo hip-hop song produced by Eskeez is a reminder to the hip-hop community that ‘Baba Hafusa’ still holds his ground when it comes to trading bars.

The rapper, who brilliantly played the role of ‘Makanaki’ in the award-winning film ‘King of the Boys,’ made it clear that he had not retired from music, but is simply testing other waters – like movies and sports.

The song features partner in crime and YBNL kingpin Olamide, who delivered his simple yet catchy hook beautifully. Sess, the producer, also rendered additional vocals that made the song crisp. ‘Omo’ is a Yoruba word which, as a street-lingua, translates into being speechless about something.

R2Bees ft. King Promise & Joeboy – Fine Wine

Award-winning musical duo – R2Bees drops this surprises afro-pop banger titled ‘Fine Wine’ featuring King Promise & JoeBoy.

After a long break from the music space, Mugeez and Paedae connects two of the finest vocalist in Ghana and Nigeria, King Promise and JoeBoy respectively on this euphonious song which is their first single for the year 2021.

Lil Kesh ft. Naira Marley – Korope

YAGI Entertainment frontman, Lil Kesh makes his headline account for the year. He puts to play his lyrical dexterity with an experimental sound titled ‘Korope’ and it features Marlian Music honcho, Naira Marley

‘2 Times a Guy’ is a 7-track strictly Hip-hop project from the ‘Geng Geng‘ hitmaker, Reggie.

Zinoleesky – Naira Marley

Marlian Music singer, Zinoleesky continues to impress music fans with yet another party cracker titled after his label head ‘Naira Marley’.

Produced by Niphkeys and mixed/mastered by Spirit Mix, the Afro-fused song is a lovely bop with mesmerizing overtunes listeners will definitely vibe to.

‘Naira Marley’ is the follow-up to his previous single, ‘Kiloshe Remix,’ which featured heavyweight Nigerian singer, Mayorkun, and Busiswa, a South African songstress.

KiDi ft. Joey B – Send Me Nudes

Ghanaian singer-songwriter and producer, KiDi outdoors his sophomore full-length studio project dubbed ‘The Golden Boy’.
