This Is How Justin Bieber Reached Out To Wizkid To Be On The Remix Of Essence
According to a verbal history put together by Rollingstone, it is reported multiple award-winning Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber and his team reached out to Wizkid to pitch the idea of making the remix for the purported song of the summer ‘Essence’.
The highly acclaimed ‘Essence’, which originally featured Nigerian songstress Tems, is a song housed under Wizkid’s’ ‘Made in Lagos ‘ album. The chart-topping tune was given a deserved remix on the 13th of August 2021 featuring a verse from Justin Bieber.
American monthly magazine Rollingstone, in a recent published article has given details of how the original ‘Essence’ was created and as well gave an insight into how the remix came about.
According to the magazine, Justin Bieber’s A & R Tay James introduced Justin Bieber to the song on a vacation flight to Mexico to celebrate Alison Kaye’s 40th birthday. After a first listen, the song peaked the interest of Justin and quickly became the singer’s favourite song, so much that they played it all weekend.
At the event, Tay James (Justin’s A & R) spoke to Wizkid’s North American agent known as Mike G who was also present at the birthday party about the possibility of getting Justin Bieber on the song.
Accordingly, a group was created with Tay, Wiz, Justin, and Josh [Gudwin],” who is Justin’s engineer. Raw files of the original song were shared with Justin Bieber’s team and the popstar laid an awe-inspiring verse.
