Ghanaians have taken to social to react to the celebration of Founders’ Day which falls today, August 4, 2022.

President, Akufo Addo, moved the date of the annual celebration of Founder’s Day from September 21 to Founders’ Day August 4 during his first term in office.

The day is reserved to honor the achievements of those who led Ghana to independence. They are known as the Big Six.

They are; Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Edward Akufo-Addo, Joseph Boakye Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, William Ofori Atta and Ebenezer Ako Adjei.

Taking to Twitter, some Ghanaians shared varied opinions about the celebration.

Meanwhile, some netizens also expressed their displeasure about the change in the day which was originally September 21.

‘’What significance does 4th August has on our independence? The only thing I know is…UGCC was created on 4/8/1947. Must everything be politics?’’ one asked.
