Former German international Gerald Asamoah to organise free heart surgeries for Ghanaian children

Former German international footballer Gerald Asamoah, who also hails from Ghana, is set to sponsor the surgery of 20 children with heart conditions and related diseases in Ghana.

This pediatric mission is an initiative organized by Gerald Asamoah through his foundation, the Gerald Asamoah Heart Foundation, in partnership with the University of Ghana Medical Center’s (UGMC) Cardiothoracic Department.

The mission is scheduled to commence on November 20, 2023.

Gerald Asamoah, known for his distinguished career in professional football, now first-team manager at German Bundesliga club Schalke 04, has also dedicated himself to a different kind of goal – providing hope and a second chance at life to children in need, especially those with various heart conditions.

The Gerald Asamoah Heart Foundation was established with a vision to support children with heart diseases from around the world.

As part of this initiative, up to 25 medical professionals, including doctors and surgeons, will arrive in Ghana from Germany on 18th November, to provide specialized medical care for the young patients.

The partnership between the Gerald Asamoah Heart Foundation and the University of Ghana Medical Center’s Cardiothoracic department ensures that these surgeries will be carried out with the utmost expertise and care.

Gerald Asamoah, who himself battled a heart condition during his career, has not only overcome his personal challenges but also excelled in the world of professional football and seeks to use his success as a platform to give back to society and offer life-changing opportunities to children who face similar health obstacles.
