Godigbe Za celebrated with rich culture

The 2022 edition of the Godigbe Za festival celebrated by the Chiefs and people of Aflao Traditional Area of the Ketu South Municipality has been held with a call on government to consider paying more attention to the educational needs of the people of the Aflao Traditional Area and Ketu South as a whole. 

The Paramount King of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbuiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V in his address, also asked for the construction of the Komla Dumor road that leads to the community day school and the Diamond Cement road to improve the economic activities of the area.

Torgbuiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V noted that the construction of the above-mentioned roads will not only improve the economic activities of the area, but also help make the Aflao Traditional Area a better place to live in as well as bring more revenue to the government through the Municipal Assembly.

“These two roads are very dear to our hearts and need urgent government attention,” Torgbuiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V said.

 The Paramount Chief of the Likpe Traditional Area, Nana  Soglo Alloh IV  who chaired the occasion, noted that it is important to have people all over come together to celebrate the works of their ancestors.

Nana Suglo commended Torgbuiga Fiti for his efforts in ensuring that the borders were opened after the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. 

He urged government to help with the needed development rightly deserved by the people so as to give residents a sense of belonging. 

The Interior Minister, Mr. Ambrose Dery who spoke on behalf of President Akufo-Addo noted that the government is committed to continuing its flagship programmes like the Free SHS.

Mr. Ambrose Derry noted that the programme is meant to address inequality and ensure equal opportunities for all students through the removal of cost barriers in public second-cycle schools.  

“Ketu South is a beneficiary of this policy as schools like St Paul’s Senior High School, Three Town Senior High School,  and Klikor Senior High Technical School among others, are beneficiaries of this flagship programme,” Mr. Derry said.
