2022 BECE: Bekwai candidates gifted free stationery, ¢2k awaits aggregate 6 students

Candidates sitting this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Senfi, Dominase, Adjamesu and Ofoase Kokobin communities of the Ashanti Region have been gifted assorted stationery.

Five hundred pieces of mathematical sets, pens, pencils and other required items for writing the papers have been handed to school heads for onward distribution to the candidates.

Last Friday, philanthropist Daniel Agyei Sarpong and some other persons donated these items to demonstrate their support and goodwill to the candidates ahead of the examinations beginning on Monday, October 17.

Mr Sarpong noted that “students at that level also deserve our support and motivation to fully prepare to face the challenge ahead. I encouraged them to deal and wash away the fear that comes with exams and also remain positive-minded and maintain a positive attitude.”

Management of Ghana Education Service GES, in a statement released to the general public, particularly schools, stated that this year’s BECE will be written from October 17 to 21, 2022 at all the 2,023 designated centres across the country.

A total of 552,276 candidates, comprising 276,988 males and 275,288 females are expected to sit for the examination.

“All candidates and stakeholders are assured that management has worked very closely with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations throughout the country,” the statement assured.

In a bid to ensure that students remain focused and also as a sign of encouragement, Daniel Agyei Sarpong was hopeful his gesture will serve as a further boost to the morale of the students to excel in the forthcoming papers.

“I have pledged ¢2,000 support to candidates who obtain aggregate six with eight 1’s in all eight subjects in the upcoming exam,” he added.
