Ghana Month: Genre and dance of the Ga Adamgbe

In our Ghana Month series this week, we shine a light on indigenous Ghanaian dances that you may not know about.

Today, we tell you about Kpatsa, the genre and dance of the Ga Adamgbe people of the Greater Accra region.

The dance which mimics the uneven walk of mythical dwarfs sighted by a hunter according to oral tradition is largely performed at puberty rite events.

My colleague Justice Baidoo went to see the Ghana dance ensemble perform the dance at the University of Ghana here in Accra.
