One other suspect is at large.

A statement from the police indicated that the suspects “were returning from an illegal bush hunting expedition in a taxi when the Police officer stopped them at the checkpoint for a routine check.

“However, the suspects, in an attempt to prevent the Police officer from checking the contents in their car, pounced on him and violently attacked him.”

It added that “the Police, on receiving the distress call of the attack, immediately moved in and arrested five of the suspects while two managed to escape.”

The Police noted that the officer who was attacked sustained a knee injury.

He is, however, receiving medical attention together with one other suspect.

Meanwhile, all the suspects are in custody and to face justice efforts are underway to get the last suspect arrested.
