First Sky Group founder urges Kpando SHS old students to contribute to school’s development
Old students of the Kpando Senior High School have been urged to commit to developing their alma mater.
This is a clarion call from the Founder and Chairman of the First Sky Group, Eric Seddy Kutortse.
He made this assertion at the launch of the school’s 70th anniversary celebration on Thursday, January 27, 2023.
According to Mr Kutortse who is a former student of the institution, while the current students do their part towards academic excellence, it is crucial that the infrastructure necessary to achieve that goal is provided.
He lamented the inadequate logistics such as beds, and desks among others which pose a challenge to students and teachers alike.
On the back of this, he urged the government and the old students association to chip in to accelerate the pace of the institution.
The theme of the event was “Quality education, a collective responsibility.”
Mr Kutortse further commended the staff of the school for shaping world-class youngsters to fit into society.
He advocated a coordinated effort toward making KPASEC’s new phase a success.
Headmaster of KPASEC, Charles Evans Apreku, also delivered the situational report of the school.
During his speech, Mr Apreku lauded the students for a stellar performance in the just-ended West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Background
Kpando Secondary School located in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region is one of the first class second circle schools in Ghana with the acronym, KPASEC.
It was established on the 26th day of January 1953 as part of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s 1951 Accelerated Development Plan for Education.
The motto of KPASEC is; “Lux Et Veritas” meaning; “Light and Truth”.
The past students are called KOSAs, the abbreviation of Kpando Secondary School Old Students Association with the slogan “Tsitsiawo”.
