Sompahemaa Foundation puts smiles on faces of less-privileged women on Mother’s Day
The Sompahemaa Foundation brought smiles to the faces of a section of women in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region during this year’s Mother’s Day Celebration.
This forms part of its corporate vision to promote the welfare of the underprivileged in society.
The occasion which fell on Sunday, May 8, 2022, saw the foundation extending its support to women drawn from various communities within the Suame Municipality through donations.
To ensure the donation touches those who need it most, a decentralised selection procedure was solicited from the Assembly Members within the Municipality. This was in compliance with the Foundation’s core values of transparency, fairness, and equity in the execution of its mandate.
Sharing her motivation and passion for such a benevolent gesture, the Founder and President of Sompahemaa Foundation, Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said; “Mothers are our treasures who must be celebrated on this occasion regardless of their social or financial status in life. Motherhood is not only biological. Any woman who takes care of children other than hers must not be left out in times such as these. They also deserve to be celebrated.”
She called on the beneficiaries to stand up to the difficult task of keeping the family together. For they shall be celebrated in their old ages.
Nana Sompahemaa also visited her adopted children’s ward of the SDA hospital at Bremang, with food and cleaning items.
She assured of the Foundation’s preparedness to widen its tentacles to include the provision of Social Enterprises in deprived communities to help create decent/sustainable employment revenues which would concentrate more on the well-being of the people rather than being a profit-seeking venture.
The beneficiaries expressed their profound appreciation to the Foundation and called on the donor community and various stakeholders to channel more resources through the foundation to enable them to reach out to others in other parts of the country.
