National Theatre staff demand Executive Director's dismissal over alleged mismanagement

A group of National Theatre staff members is calling for the immediate removal of their Executive Director, Amy Frimpong, citing allegations of mismanagement and a lack of employee promotions spanning the last 12 years.

During a media interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, November 8, the employees accused the Executive Director of financial impropriety and failure to maintain the facility.

Additionally, reports suggest that some of the seats in the theatre have been replaced with mismatched “foreign” chairs.

Organisers preparing for an event at the venue also raised concerns about malfunctioning air conditioning units.

Notably, the facility has undergone no substantial renovations in the three decades since its construction.

In displaying their discontent, workers wore red attire and adorned the building with red fabric, while aiming to submit a petition to the management.
