7th EMY Africa Awards kickstart with Annual Prudential Life Greatness Walk
EMY Africa in partnership with Prudential Life Insurance hosted the 4th Annual Prudential Life Greatness Walk as a major build-up activity for this year’s EMY Africa Awards slated for October 2022.
The Walk, which occurred on Sunday, June 19, 2022 – Father’s Day, started and ended at the East Legon Executive Club House in Accra.
With over 300 personalities in attendance for the seven-kilometre stride, including top players of different industries, EMY awardees, celebrities, Prudential Life Insurance staff and the general public, the event was touted as one of the best and well organized, by the majority of participants.
The seven-kilometre distance walk was in commemoration of the 7th year of the EMY Africa Awards and the 7th year anniversary of the formation of the East Legon Executive club, which were partners of the walk.
In a short address, Executive Director of EMY Africa, Kojo Soboh said the Walk does not only seek to create awareness of the upcoming EMY Africa Awards and the various partners, but it also symbolises the perseverance that signals great achievement of men and women in positions of trust.
There were speeches from the Chief Executive of Prudential Life Insurance Ghana, Dr Hazel Berrard Amuah, the president of East Legon Executive Fitness Club and Chairman of EMY Africa Awards Board of Patrons, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong as well as Marketing Manager of Lucozade, Gloria Ofori, which touched on the importance of wellness and fitness through exercises like the Greatness Walk and the need to take advantage of such platforms to network and build social capital.
Held on the theme, ‘Keep Striding’, participants walked through the boundary road, American house junction to Mensah wood, Avenue Street to the boundary road and back to the East Legon Club House.
In a colourful scene, a brass band serenaded participants with renditions of some popular songs during the walk.
The walk was led by a horse-riding security man and tailed by a branded float truck, an ambulance, Police patrol vehicle and branded vehicles of sponsors who carried water and other refreshments for participants.
Participants were also taken through an exciting 30 minutes of aerobic section facilitated by Fitrip Fitness Centre and Chris’ challenge, with refreshments for all participants afterwards.
Main partner for the Walk was Prudential Life Insurance with other supporting partners such as the East Legon Executive Club House and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).
Notable sponsors and supporters include Lucozade, Special Ice, National Lottery Authority (NLA), Fitrip Fitness Center, Cheers Bissap, Asuavo Security, Nyaho Medical Center and Chris’ Challenge.
