Indomitable Lions dispatch Stallions in AFCON openerCameroon kickstart the 33rd AFCON with a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso, coming back from behind to end a run of three consecutive head to head draws.
The deadlock was broken in the 24th minute, after Gustavo Sangare(Burkina Faso) converts a killer cross from Bertrand Traoré with a strong and precise shot that goes across the goal and past the goalkeeper to put the Stallions into the lead.
Sixteen minutes later ,Cameroon talisman and captain, Vincent Aboubakar restored parity after Andre Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon) goes down under a challenge in the box, which a penalty was awarded after a VAR review.
Just before the final whistle to end the first half, Issoufou Dayo (Burkina Faso) brought his opponent in the box which left referee Mustapha Ghorbal no option than to award a penalty. Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon) wins the battle of wills and sends an unstoppable penalty past Herve Koffi into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1 Cameroon.
Cameroon will play Ethiopia in the second group stage fixture on 13th January, 2022 with Burkina Faso facing Cape Verde.
