AFC Futsal Asian Cup: Dazzling Uzbekistan dismantle ‘minnows’ Bahrain 6-1
Four-time runner-ups Uzbekistan completed a hat-trick of victories in from Group B after dismantling whipping boys Bahrain 6-1 at the Saad Al Abdullah Hall in the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait City.
Elbek Tulkinov, Ahmed Salem Sanjer, Usmonov Arbkar, Mashrab Adilov, and Shahram Fakhriddinov were on the score-sheet for the winners with Ali Hasan Ammar.
Elbek Tulkinov struck the opening goal of the game for the White Wolves inside the 14th minute as he pounced on a loose ball to net a scrappy finish.
Bahrain were patient in their build-up play as The Reds sought to break down the watertight defence of the technically gifted four-time runners-ups who find delight in making their opponents chase shadows.
At one moment, as a confirmation of their superiority over their opponents, Uzbekistan retained possession for up to a minute and 32 seconds, exchanging over 20 passes in the process.
Bahrain’s Ahmed Salem Sanjer had a perfect pass tossed his way by teammate Ali Abdulla Alalwani on the struck of the 7th minute but his effort missed the 6.6 ft target goalpost.
With just around a minute to end the first period, Usmonov Arbkar scored a visionary goal from the center circle as he perfectly weighed a crafty effort in the yawning net of the Brahrain goalpost.
The second period did not travel for long before Mashrab Adilov profited from a sloppy defence to extend the lead for Uzbekistan with head coach Bakhodir Akhmedov applauding from the coaching area.
Aside the eye-catching display from the blue-jerseyed Uzbekistan side, the greatest highlight of the afternoon was Shahram Fakhriddinov thunderbolt finish. The No.13 unleashed an unstoppable piledriver in the 14th minute of the second period to register the 4th goal of the dominant side.
Moments later, he was at the finishing end once more as he poked the ball home from a Usmonov assist.
The entire arena was brought to its feet as a mind-blowing inter-positional play and quality switches saw Usmonov slot the ball into a gaping net for the 6th goal.
Ali Hasan Ammar grabbed a face-saving goal for the losers.
Usmonov Akbar was voted the MVP of the match.
