Akosombo Dam spillage: Construction Ambassadors to put up camps for flood victims

Following the displacement of several communities as a result of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams spillage, Construction Ambassadors, a construction company, has committed to provide shelter for affected residents and get students back in school in two weeks.

The Ambassadors are working to construct camps for those displaced by the floods, in order to free up space in the classrooms which have been turned into makeshift shelters for displaced people. This will make it possible for normal studies to resume as soon as possible.

Recognizing the urgency, Construction Ambassadors say they are ready to address the problem. They are skilled in various construction areas and experienced in disaster relief efforts. They are working to create temporary settlements for flood-affected residents, with the first phase expected to be ready in two weeks.

The Managing Director of Construction Ambassadors, Mr. George Kutortse, stressed their commitment to building these temporary camps.

The camps will have essential facilities like clean water, sanitation, and communal spaces, ensuring that displaced residents can live with dignity during this tough period, he said.

Additionally, the construction firm is working diligently to restore schools serving as shelter homes to functional classrooms.

This includes repairing and replacing desks, chairs, blackboards, and teaching materials. They are also fixing damaged walls and roofs to make the buildings safe and secure once more.

Looking ahead, Mr. George Kutortse emphasized that their efforts will bring back normalcy and hope. By allowing children to return to school quickly, they are providing stability and routine for both students and their families.
