Benjamin Azamati finishes third behind Noah Lyles in New Balance Indoor Grand prix

National 100m record-holder, Benjamin Azamati, produced a season’s best of 6.62s to place third behind World 200m champion, Noah Lyles, at the New Balance Indoor grand prix in Boston.

Azamati started the night in Boston with a run of 6.65s to finish behind Trayvon Bromell in Heat 2 to make the final.

In both races, Azamati got off to good starts and managed to place a respectable third in the 60m indoor final, only 0.05s behind Trayvon Bromell (6.51s) and Noah Lyles (6.51s), who eventually won the competition.

This was Benjamin Azamati’s second race of the indoor season after he raced to 6.64s to win the Olympic Development 60m final at the Texas Tech Open & Multi.

Azamati, who narrowly missed on bronze at the Commonwealth games last year, will be hoping to qualify for this year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The former University of Ghana man would need to run 10.00s in any World Athletics-accredited competition to make the championships
