EDMUND COPSON ‘Ginseng’ was one of the brilliant central midfielders of his time in the Ghana Premier League and a key member of the legendary Hearts of Oak ’64 Battalion squad’.
Same season, same stadium, Copson scored the only goal of the match as 10-man Hearts of Oak
beat Kotoko to stretch their lead at the top of summit after Osmanu Amadu was sent off.
Hearts of Oak did a double over Kotoko that season (1999) with a resounding 2-0 win in Accra to win the Ghana Premier league for 3rd consecutive time. The goals were scored by Ishmael Addo and Emmanuel Osei Kuffour.
STYLE OF PLAY:
Eddie Copson, a former player of Kotoko swapped across the rivals with Godwin Ablordey moving the other way from Hearts to Kotoko after the 1997/98 season.
A box-to-box midfielder who was blessed with a thunderous long range strikes which could beat any goalkeeper any day. A very good passer of the ball especially long range passes. A good tackler at times when he’s not tired. When tired sometimes plays reckless tackles which attracts yellow cards.

TROPHIES:
Copson was instrumental in Hearts winning the league title in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He also won the CAF Champions league and the Super Cup in 2000 and 2001 respectively. He won the FA Cup in 1999 and 2000.
