Black Stars: Prince Tagoe claims C.K Akonnor allowed for his job to be interfered with [Pure FM]

Ex-Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe has spoken about the dismissal of C.K Akonnor as head coach of the Ghanaian senior national team.

The 47-year-old was fired from his role as head of the Black Stars together with two of his assistants David Duncan and Patrick Greveraars following a marathon meeting held at the headquarters of the football association on Monday afternoon.

Striker Prince Tagoe who scored 7 times in 36 appearances for the West African powerhouse has expressed his opinion about the sacking of the former Wolfsburg and Ghana captain from his role as the head coach of the four-time AFCON winners.

“C.K [Akonnor] allowed for his job to be interfered with. As an ex-player who even played in Germany I assume he knows how strict the Germans are with their decisions but I didn’t see that with the national team when C.K was in charge,” he told Kumasi-based Pure FM.

The Ghana Football Association has named three high-profiled Executive Council members to find a new coach for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours.

Tagoe is a former Hearts of Oak striker who featured for clubs such as TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, Bursaspor in Turkey among others.
