HR Focus Africa launches The Ghana HR Report
HR Focus has launched the first ever edition of the Ghana HR Report; a document containing guiding principles for key HR Functions such as: Performance management, organisational culture and recruitment and selection.
The report was launched during the Vodafone HR forum at just the ended HR Focus Conference held on October 14, 2022.
This annual conference for HR practitioners and business leaders was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra and saw over 300 guests participating.
The report was launched by a group of professionals, namely: Hannah Ashiokai Akrong, HR Director at Vodafone; Dr. Mrs. Irene Stella Agyenim Boateng, Advisor to the CE of VRA; Florence Hutchful, a member of the HR Focus Awards Technical Committee; Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, Founder and CE of L’AINE Group; and Nana Elegba, Chief HR Officer, The Multimedia Group.
At the launch, they extended an invitation to other experienced HR Practitioners to join in the next phase of adding-on to the guiding principles to further enhance HR practice.
HR Focus Africa organised the 2022 edition of the annual conference under the theme “HR’s role in the future of work during an economic crisis”.
Speaking at the event, the president and chairperson of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, admonished HR practitioners to understand the emerging volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world, saying the situation of constant, unpredictable change has now become the norm, and which demands that they reskill themselves.
Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan for her part, counseled participants to nurture each other, saying “Leaders raise leaders; we all need to be intentional to raise leaders in our various organisations.”
Other speakers at the event included Mr. Clement Wiredu, CEO of Becksworth Consulting; Mr. Michael Otchere Duah, Head of HR at Unilever Ghana, and Mr. Gideon Ataraire, CEO, Allianz life Insurance Ghana.
Speaking during a panel discussions, Mr. Michael Otchere Duah, advised HR Practitioners to be humane in their dealings with employees. Additionally, Nana Elegba, the Chief HR Officer of The Multimedia Group, advised other HR Practitioners to maintain their focus, saying: “In hard times, we need to use resources and increase accountability to rein in cost.”
The event served as a great opportunity for networking, and featured corporate exhibitions and breakaway sessions moderated by David L.O. Mills, Head of Human Resources – PETROSOL, Vera Nutakor – Head of HR, Devtraco LTD, and Hope Yibor, People Development Lead, OLAM Agri/OFI.
