EXCLUSIVE: Majeed Waris is NOT in the Black Stars squad for Nigeria clash
France-based striker Abdul Majeed Waris has NOT been invited for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Nigeria, Ghana Sports Online can confirm.
Multiple reports from certain Ghanaian portals have linked the 30-year-old Strasbourg forward with a return to the Black Stars as photos of himself and Alexander Djiku on a flight from France to Ghana surfaced online.
But, Ghana Sports Online can confirm that the striker is only heading to Ghana on holiday and attending to some important issues back home and not to join the Black Stars camp.
The former BK Hacken striker only joined Djiku to Ghana on the same flight because they are both based in Strasbourg.
Waris has not featured for the Black Stars since November 2017 when he came off the bench to play 40 minutes in the Black Stars’ 1-1 drawn game with Egypt at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
