Hearts of Oak departure train – this is the next player to be released [Asempa FM SportsNite]

Hearts of Oak‘s hierarchy are considering releasing combative midfielder Daniel Kodie as the club embark on a massive clearout that would see at least 10 first-team players head for the exit gates.

Due to injuries, the 29-year-old has played just 24 league games in two and a half seasons for the capital club.

According to Asempa FM’s SportsNite Leaks, Hearts head coach Slavko Matic has asked the club’s hierarchy to downsize the squad to 28 first-team players and Kodie is one of the names penciled to be released.

The former Liberty Professionals midfielder went under the knife in May 2021 to correct a knee problem and only returned to action in September 2022.

Matic feels the midfielder doesn’t fit the grades in his scheme of things and has asked for him to be shipped out.

The clearout has seen defenders Mohammed Alhassan and Fatawu Mohammed as well as midfielder William Opoku Asiedu all exiting the club.
