Former Miss Commonwealth Beauty Queen installed Frante development queen
A former Miss Commonwealth Beauty Queen has been installed as Nkosuohemaa (Development Queen) at Frante, a farming community in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality of Ashanti.
31-year-old Princess Duncan, the 2018 Miss Commonwealth Beauty Queen has been installed under the stool name, Nana Akua Ahensima I.
The installation of Nana Ahensima who also doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive of COA Research and Manufacturing Company attracted politicians, traditional leaders, people in academia, media and academicians and entertainment.
The former student of Wesley Girls Senior High School made history when she became the first African to win the coveted Miss Commonwealth Beauty Pageant for the first time since its inception in 2000.
The new development queen is a royal of Akomaa-Fie Royal Gate of Sekyedumase.
She said at her inauguration ceremony over the weekend she will prioritise development, work with all stakeholders to bring development to the people.
The newly-installed Nkosuohemaa, Nana Ahensima also promised to strengthen, and promote the unique cultural heritage of the people whilst uniting them for development.
She appealed for the support of all, including political leaders to fast-track development in the area.
“My vision is to revive all our lost cultural heritage. I plead with all and sundry, especially political leaders to support us in our quest to push our developmental agenda. We will need the support of all whilst we bring development to the people.” Nana Ahensima I said.
Her call followed a promise by her father, Professor Samuel Duncan who is CEO of COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited to help the new queen develop Frante.
Meanwhile, the queenmother of Asante Mampong has tasked the newly-installed Nkosuohemaa of Frante in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality to lead the campaign against teenage pregnancy in her catchment.
Nana Agyakoma Difie II says girls in the area must be encouraged to prioritise formal education over early marriage and child birth.
According to the Mamponghemaa, under no circumstance should child birth take the place of education among girls, especially with the implementation of the government’s free senior high school policy.
Nana Amma Kessewaa, Asante Mampong Dadeasehemaa deputised for Mamponghemaa.
“It is a known fact that the importance of Secondary School cannot be over-emphasized. It comes with a lot of benefits to beneficiaries.
“Mamponghemaa is urging the new Nkosuohemaa to unite all the girls in this community, counsel them to take advantage of the government’s Free SHS policy.
“Advise our girls to resist every advance of men on them. I entreat you to use your position to bring all the young women together and campaign against early childbirth in this community.” Nana Agyakoma Difie said.
Frantehene, Nana Owusu Sekyere III echoed the call for the fight against teenage pregnancy as he appealed for the renovation of a dilapidated school structure in the community.
“I entreat you to bring all the girls together. They should not be lured into early child birth that could destroy their lives. I am confident you will take this as a project.”
Among dignitaries at the ceremony were Professor Joshua Alabi who represented former President John Dramani Mahama, Paramount chiefs of Asebu in the Central region, Okatakyie Dr. Amanfi VII, Sekyedumase Manhene, Amakomhene, and a retinue of chiefs.
Also present were President of the Ghana Journalists Association, actors Kwadwo Nkansah Liwin and Akrobeto, among others
